The new Blancpain Tribute to Fifty Fathoms No Rad it is a typical exercise of returning to the past, recently quite frequent among watchmakers. The result is certainly successful: on the other hand, it is difficult to make a mistake, starting from one of the greats classics of diving watchmaking.
Il Fifty Fathoms No Rad original it is a watch designed at the time of the transition from radium to tritium as a luminescent material on the dials. Tritium is much less radioactive and therefore safer for the workers who assemble the watches. The transition from the first to the second material is highlighted by a crossed-out radioactivity symbol, which is faithfully reproduced in the re-edition.
Il Blancpain Tribute to Fifty Fathoms No Rad It features an automatic caliber with a silicon balance spring and double barrel, which allows for a power reserve of four days. The presence of a date window at 3 o'clock - without a magnifying glass - and a rotating bezel make this watch suitable for daily needs as well as diving, thanks also to its 30 atmosphere water resistance. The 40 mm case is faithful to the proportions of the Blancpain watches of the XNUMXs: not so the screw-down crown and the sapphire crystal, which however we can consider almost inevitable technical improvements for a modern product.
Il new Blancpain Tribute to Fifty Fathoms No Rad it is available for 13 euros, in a limited edition of 400 pieces.
