Rolex Datejust

The watches

The Rolex Datejust has been the most popular entry model in the Rolex range for almost eighty years. The balance of its forms, its versatility, its combination of sportiness and elegance, have made it a watch worthy of the praise of the great Gerald Genta.

The Rolex Datejust was born in 1945 with the aim of bringing together the three most popular features of Rolex in a single watch: the waterproof Oyster case, the Perpetual automatic movement and the date window at 3 o'clock. date at midnight - not common for the time - makes the Rolex Datejust an instantly recognizable watch by audiences around the world.

The Cyclops magnifying glass on the date window, an aesthetic feature typical of the Rolex Datejust, was introduced in the 36s because the small case size - 41 millimeters - does not allow the use of a date disc with particularly large numbers. The lens also remains on larger models, such as the modern 28mm Rolex Datejust II, and is of course also used on the 31 and XNUMXmm Datejust models. The Rolex Datejust is also a women's watch, thanks to the Lady version, small in size and often embellished with the use of gold and gems.

There have been many versions of the Rolex Datejust over time: the Turnograph, the Datejust Oysterquartz, the Datejust Moonphase by Comezzi, are just some of the editions of this timepiece appreciated by the public all over the world.
The Rolex Datejust also links its image to the Wimbledon tennis event, which Rolex has sponsored since 1978: a collaboration that led to the creation of some Rolex Datejust with green indexes inspired by the famous British playing field.
