Five questions to… Torelli Jewels

For Chronosect it is essential to give a face and a name to our Certified Sellers, in order to expand and strengthen the relationship between the client and the professional. Today we tell you about Torelli Jewels, a family-run jeweler business with an ancient tradition, in Puglia.

Who are you and how long have you been working in the jewelery sector?

We Torelli we have been in the jewelry business for five generations and I, Michele, belong to the younger one. Our business dates back to 1824 and makes our reality one of the oldest in Europe. My grandfather, a goldsmith and watchmaker, passed down to us both the passion for timepieces and the passion for working with precious metals. We have a small workshop where we carry out the goldsmith creations typical of our area, also making use of the experience of my uncle, who is a gemologist expert, for the retail sale of precious stones of various types.

One of our important projects is the one that has to do with jewelry and music. Starting from the shapes drawn by an oscilloscope, we have created a series of collections inspired by the great musicians of the past: ourto Music Collection. We have always had a great passion for pink and green diamonds, which combined with gold gave life to our first creations in this collection. We are currently focusing a lot on the Vivaldi collection, inspired by the Serenissima. The materials we use in the latter are silver and Murano glass. But we never stop: our motto, coined by Pasquale Torelli, is that “The most beautiful jewel is the one that has not yet been made”.

How is the watch market in your area, and how did 2020 go?

In this area of Italy, there are no large jewelers dealing with the second wrist, only dealers working on the new one. We therefore took this opportunity and started operating onused luxury watch, investing in fine watchmaking. This without abandoning the new, of course: we are Eberhard dealers. Tissot and Breil. However, it cannot be denied that the public demand, especially in recent years, is oriented towards the luxury second wrist. We are also hoping to expand with new points of sale in Italy, especially to bring ours to new customers Music Collection.

As for the current situation, in 2020 the high range went very well, everything ranging from four thousand euros up was in great demand. The low-end sector, the one from seventy to three hundred euros, went equally well. Instead, what suffered the most was the clock from one thousand to three thousand euros.

What, then, are your expectations for 2021?

I am an optimist by nature. Beyond the restrictions given at the government level, we try to reach customers' homes in some way, through advertisements, or courtesy calls that we make practically in a personal way, with a view to always pampering the customer.

What kind of customers does your shop frequent?

We are seven kilometers from San Giovanni Rotondo, the town of Padre Pio, where there are structures that employ many people with available spending. Doctors, nurses, managers ... Then there is Foggia, San Severo, Apricena, all areas from which many of our customers come. Fortunately we are surrounded by productive activities such as quarries, olive groves and vineyards, a rich territory that gives life to a wealthy entrepreneurial class. Our customers look to an important luxury, over four thousand euros. In this we notice a change compared to the past: all those customers who until 2019 were interested in the mid-range of the watch market, in 2020 have not been seen anymore, replaced by buyers of luxury, over four thousand euros.

Finally, what would you like to hear from a customer entering your store, and what do you expect from Chronosect?

Right now we would like to hear about our jewelry line, the Music Collection, which we have brought all the way to Japan and which is our pride. For us, Chronosect is a platform for which we appreciate the choice of acting as a link between us and the customer, rather than as an intermediary. For us, the presence of the customer in the shop remains of fundamental importance, being in direct dialogue with the buyer and letting him touch our creations is essential.
